Raise The Barn
The dream is to provide its four legged officers a modern safe stable and training facility within the City of Richmond that will ensure a horse-healthy environment.
The current stable, built in 1970 on Brook Road, is no longer suitable for proper turnout, care, or safety. It was deemed unfit and outdated in 2001 by Richmond City Council!
Recurrent flooding, unsafe training areas, and less than half-acre of gravel turnout area creates an ongoing struggle for officers to keep their horses healthy and in the top physical and mental condition required to provide horse mounted patrols in the City of Richmond and beyond.
Our new stable facility will fulfill their “One Team, One Dream” vision.
The new stable facility will provide the Richmond Police Mounted Unit with updated stalls and supporting facilities for its horses, along with space that will allow expansion of Unit!
Barn Update!
After several years and lots of effort, the land has been secured for a new barn at Crestview and Government road on the back side of Historic Churchill. The plans include a 12 stall barn, training rings, parking area, locker rooms, turnouts for the horses, grazing pastures, meeting rooms and many more amenities to include handicap accessibility.
This is due to efforts of not only the City of Richmond and the Friends Board but also all of the citizens’ letters of support, supporting events and financial
